SUAnime(シドニー大学)
anime@UTS(シドニー工科大学)
AnimeUNSW(ニューサウスウェールズ大学)
animemq(マッコーリー大学)
Activity Reports (English)
GUILD Begins Collaboration with Newcastle University's GAC in Australia

On September 1, 2026, Subculture Club GUILD member (Governor) Shota Hatakeyama visited the University of Newcastle in Australia to meet in person with the executive team of the Gaming & Anime Club (GAC), including Secretary Sebastian.
Building upon the institutional relationship between our universities, both clubs have connected to begin student-led collaborations for future cross-cultural projects and community exchange. Moving forward, we look forward to building friendly, ongoing connections across borders through online joint events and collaborative activities.
Lastly, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the executive team, and all the members of GAC, for their warm hospitality, generous welcome, and wonderful exchange.
Visiting Sydney University's "SUAnime" Executive Meeting — Agreement on Launching Online Joint Projects

On September 3, 2026, Subculture Club GUILD member (Governor) Shota Hatakeyama attended the official Executive Meeting of SUAnime (Sydney University Anime Society) in person at the University of Sydney (USYD). Society leaders, including President Arsh, International Student Engagement Officer Tony, Events Director Henry, and Committee member Wendy, attended the meeting to discuss future cross-border collaboration.
As a result of the discussions, both societies officially agreed to advance project planning starting in early October 2026, working toward launching regular video meeting exchanges via Discord and Zoom in the future. Furthermore, SUAnime leadership agreed to share and expand this collaborative initiative across the network of "AnimeSydney," an inter-university coalition uniting four major universities in Sydney (USYD, UNSW, UTS, and Macquarie University).
In addition, GUILD presented the 65th Japan Science Fiction Convention — a historic festival once shaped by prominent figures such as Osamu Tezuka and Hideaki Anno that is returning to a student-led organization for the first time in roughly 40 years — and extended an official invitation to SUAnime members traveling to Japan. GUILD extends its sincere gratitude to the SUAnime executive team for their warm hospitality and looks forward to preparing with members in Japan ahead of the full-scale launch in October.
Visiting AnimeSydney's Premier Event "Masquerade Ball" — Launching Official Collaboration Between AniSyd and GUILD

On September 17, 2026, Subculture Club GUILD member (Governor) Shota Hatakeyama confirmed the commencement of an inter-organizational collaboration with AnimeSydney, the alliance of major university anime societies in Sydney, Australia. Following this, on September 20, he attended their premier event, the "Eclipse Masquerade Ball," marking the successful launch of our mutual partnership.
On September 17, GUILD held discussions with the executive members of AnimeSydney at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and agreed to commence bilateral collaboration. While our club established a partnership with SUAnime (The University of Sydney) earlier this month, this broader alliance with AnimeSydney was made possible thanks to the generous support and introduction from SUAnime, expanding our exchange from a single society to the entire alliance.
AnimeSydney is an alliance comprising anime societies from four major universities in Sydney: SUAnime (The University of Sydney), anime@UTS (University of Technology Sydney), AnimeUNSW (University of New South Wales), and animemq (Macquarie University). It stands as one of the largest student pop-culture and anime communities in the Sydney metropolitan area.
On September 20, our representative was officially invited to attend AnimeSydney's grand event, the "ECLIPSE MASQUERADE BALL." This visit provided valuable insights into Australian student subculture and youth trends, while also offering an invaluable opportunity to engage in direct talks with leaders across the affiliated societies, solidifying our long-term friendship and mutual trust.
Moving forward, we plan to roll out various collaborative subculture initiatives connecting student communities across Japan and Australia through online platforms. Lastly, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Arsh (President of SUAnime), the AnimeSydney Executives, and all club leadership and members for their tremendous support and warm hospitality in realizing this partnership.
